The History & Softness of Pashmina Shawls

Pashmina shawls... those of you who have already felt the benefits of a cashmere sweater will definitely be interested to hear about the specialty cashmere uncovered in the luxurious pashmina shawl. Taking its name from the Persian word for "wool" (Pashm), the wool is created from the finest hairs of a particular breed of goat bred in the mountains of Kashmir and Nepal.

The factor they are such a luxury item is because of how difficult it's to produce at high volumes. When it sheds, one goat will only provide concerning three to eight ounces of the fleecy down. Since there are for that reason relatively few of these particular goats (even compared to the average cashmere goats) in the high altitudes of Central Asia, the fleece is a hot commodity. However ,, it isn't just the rarity of the fabric that makes it for that reason exceptional...

Just like common cashmere, it's incredibly soft to the touch. Delicate looking yet warm and solid as a fabric, it can be worn with almost anything..
